Announcing 2023 Clover code freeze

As we approach the holiday season and the end of the year, we would like to inform you of the upcoming code freeze effective November 16, 2023–January 2, 2024. No major updates, feature additions, or changes to existing integrations are permitted during this period.

The code freeze ensures system stability, reliability, and security during the busiest season for our merchants. By limiting changes to the system, we aim to minimize disruptions and provide a consistent experience to our merchants. The freeze also extends to third-party apps built with our APIs and SDKs.

Clover support will be temporarily reduced due to the code freeze. Please note and observe the following guidelines:

  • App approvals will continue through the holiday season, except for the periods specified under the App approvals section.
  • Only submit APKs for major bug fixes.
  • Approved apps will be marked as private until the code freeze ends.

Here's the high-level view of the schedule:

Updates paused

November 16, 2023–January 2, 2024

During the code freeze, we will not update the Clover APIs, SDKs, or other platform services.

App approvals

Since holiday spending affects a subset of merchant verticals, we will continue with app approvals through the holiday season—on a limited basis.

No app approvals

November 16, 2023–December 3, 2023 and December 18, 2023–January 2, 2024

The Clover team will continue to review the app approval throughout these periods but will not release it until after the freeze dates.

Critical updates

December 4, 2023–December 15, 2023

During the critical update window—December 4, 2023–December 15, 2023—we will approve new APKs to fix critical issues or security vulnerabilities that directly impact the functionality of your integration.

We understand that this may impact your development schedule, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a stable environment for our merchants. Contact the Developer Relations team if you have any questions or concerns regarding this code freeze.

Happy holidays!
