Flex Pocket: A sleek, power-packed handheld device

We are excited to announce that the Clover Flex Pocket will be available for merchants in the United Kingdom in June 2025.

What's new

The Flex Pocket is a full-featured, mobile-optimized smart payment and business management device that makes it easy to accept payments from customers, including credit, chip cards (PIN entry and signatures for added security), debit cards from all major brands, NFC-enabled cards and mobile payment services including Apple Pay®, Google Pay™, and Samsung Pay®.

With a sleek, lightweight, and handheld design—and many features of the Flex 3—the Flex Pocket is ideal for restaurant table-side orders, at the counter, in line, or on the go. As customers increasingly prefer paperless transactions, the Flex Pocket does not include a built-in receipt printer. Apps related to receipt auto-printing, paper roll ordering, or any other printing functions are not supported. Additionally, it does not support a charging cradle or wireless charging.

Recommendation for developers

Step 1: Order your Clover Flex Pocket Developer Kit. See Receive a Dev Kit outside the United States for instructions.

📘

NOTE

If you cannot order a Dev Kit, you can build and test your apps with Flex 3 device hardware profile using the Android Emulator, because the screen size is the same. However, there are some functional differences, such as barcode scanning, and no built-in printer.

Step 2: Set up your Flex following the hardware guidelines on the Clover Merchant Help site:

Step 3: Test your apps on the Android 13 operating system.

📘

NOTE

Apps that allow the auto-printing of receipts, ordering of paper rolls, or any function related to printing are not compatible with the Flex Pocket.

Step 4: Update your app settings to include the new device. This ensures your app is available to merchants using the device.

Note for semi-integration developers

  • For remote semi-integration, the Remote Pay SDKs and REST Pay Display API support on-device Pay Display apps for the current payment user interface.
  • For native semi-integration, the Android Payments API supports the current payment user interface. You need to update the devices that support your app.
