3D Secure (3DS) authentication overview

North America—United States and Canada

3-Domain Secure™ (3DS) is a protocol that adds a security layer for online card-not-present (CNP) transactions. Clover uses EMVCo 3D Secure 2.0 (3DS2) to authenticate customers, safeguard against CNP fraud, and improve risk assessment. 3DS is supported across major card networks, such as American Express®, Discover®, Mastercard®, and Visa®.
