New server-side limits for line items and bulk inventory updates
March 2026
What's new
To ensure system stability and optimal performance, we now enforce a server-side limit of 2,500 line items per order for third-party applications. To align with this change, a maximum limit of 2,500 items per request also applies to bulk inventory updates.
Why it matters
Processing excessively large orders or massive inventory updates can strain the system and degrade performance. Enforcing these server-side limits protects the platform infrastructure and ensures a fast, reliable checkout and syncing experience for all merchants and developers.
Impacted APIs
This 2,500 line items limit applies to the following endpoints:
| Order API | Inventory API | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform API | Create a new line item Create multiple line items Create an atomic order | Update existing inventory items |
| Multiple service charge (MSC) Pilot APIs | Create a new line item Create multiple line items |
