Set up two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection and significantly decreases the risk of unauthorized access and system breaches. This requires you to provide additional identification information – a one-time password (OTP) – other than the email ID and password combination.

This procedure helps to set up your account to receive the OTP through SMS or an authenticator app.

  1. Log in to your Clover developer account.
  2. From the profile drop-down, click User Settings. The User Settings page appears.
  1. Click Turn on Two Factor Authentication. The Pick a method to get your verification codes pop-up appears.
  1. Select SMS or Authenticator app. You receive the OTP for authentication through the method you select in this step.
Note: If you select Authenticator app then download it, for example, a Google Authenticator on your Android or iOS device.
    a. SMS
  • Select the country code and enter your mobile phone number. The Send Code button is enabled.
  • Click Send Code. A 6-digit OTP is sent to your phone and Enter the verification code page appears.
  • Enter the verification code (OTP) and click Next.
    b. Authenticator app
  • Scan the QR code. Open the app to view the 6-digit OTP.
  • Enter the verification code and click Next. A pop-up displays a success message.
  1. Click Got it. The User Settings page displays the Two-Factor Authentication section with your authentication details.
  1. Click Turn On or Turn Off to change the authentication method.
Note: You can use only one method at a time for the authentication.
  2. Click Download and save the backup recovery codes the first time you set up two-factor authentication. The recovery codes are downloaded in a .txt file.
